Product Description

Polycarbonate (PC) is an engineering thermoplastic renowned for its exceptional impact resistance (virtually unbreakable), high optical clarity (up to 90% light transmission), and thermal stability (service temp: -135°C). Derived from bisphenol-A monomers, it withstands harsh environments while remaining 200x stronger than glass. Dominant applications include bullet-resistant windows, electronic housings (phones/laptops), automotive headlights, and medical devices. PC processes via injection molding/extrusion but requires pre-drying to prevent hydrolysis. Though costlier than commodity plastics, its unique blend of durability, transparency, and flame retardancy (UL94 V-0 grade) makes it irreplaceable in high-performance sectors. BPA-free variants address niche health concerns.
